Silect Operations Portal v2 Released
Silect is pleased to announce the General Availability of the Silect Operations Portal version 2. This new release of the Silect Operations Portal is a key component of Silect’s mission to make System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) easier to setup, operate and maintain. The Silect Portal provides a web interface to manage the complete lifecycle of SCOM management packs empowering organizations to speed the deployment of new monitoring capabilities in a rapidly changing IT hybrid environment. The Portal also enables Devops and self-service features that maximize the value of investments in SCOM.
New features for Silect Operations Portal v2 include:
- An updated user interface to make accessing features easier
- Support for visualizing management pack contents and agent workflow reports using Microsoft Power BI
- A new simplified approach using to authoring and maintaining MPs using workflows
- Support for excluding classes when authoring MPs
- Added support for editing element properties
- Added support for instance overrides
- When making multiple edits to a sealed MP we pre-select override MP
- When editing a sealed MP only editable elements are displayed
- Workflow report now uses the credentials used to register the SCOM management group
- MP Wiki report opens in new window
- Added support to create folders
- Added support to group fragments by folder

Silect has also updated the Silect Operations Portal Managed Instance, a free service which can be used to mange key stages of the management pack lifecycle including authoring, editing, version control, backup and more. The updated Portal MI provides a new simplified approach to authoring and maintaining MPs using workflows instead of individual SCOM elements. The Portal MI also includes a new Power BI visualization option for users to get better insights into the functionality of a management pack enabling better preparation and tuning before deployment and maintenance post-deployment.
