SCOMathon recently ran the Big SCOM Survey to get feedback from System Center Operations Manager users about how they use SCOM and what their plans are for the future. The same survey was run last year so there’s data to compare year over year to identify trends and changes to how the use of SCOM is evolving. The complete survey results can be found here.
The results of the survey offer great insights into a market we are keenly interested in. And we see some clear trends which we see with our customers as well! IT is growing. More and more infrastructure is being deployed both on-prem and in the cloud to support more applications and services.
As a result more people are getting involved and have a stake in IT monitoring. That includes application developers, business groups and other non-IT groups.
For these reasons, we started developing the Silect Operations Portal. The portal provides a gateway into monitoring for non-IT groups. It provides role-based access to important monitoring configuration settings. It also provides methods for group to modify monitoring configurations and even adding new monitoring capabilities.
